In Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, the greedy and reclusive loan shark Ebenezer Scrooge is transformed into a generous and kind man after a visit from the three Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future, teaching us that even the most selfish and rigid person can change with the right stimulus and motivation.
Carl Rogers defined this as “actualising tendency” – the innate desire we all have as human beings to express and achieve our full potential. At People Potential International we call it Managing to be Human. And just like Dickens and Rogers, we too believe in the evolutionary potential of every human being to transform and grow into bigger, healthier versions of ourselves.
